For touchscreen phones, the main menu system is located at the bottom of the page. You use the left and right arrows to scroll through the carousel menu system, so you can choose the item you'd like to view.
For non-touchscreen phones, the menu is located on the left hand-side of the screen. Use the cursor to select the item you would like to view.
The main views for both touchscreen and non-touchscreen phones are the home page and your itinerary.
The home page is the heart of the StreamThru application, it acts like a dashboard giving you a "here and now" view of the most important information for the current stage of your journey. The content of the home page changes throughout your journey. For example when you are travelling to the airport you might see flight information and traffic reports, whereas when you are at your destination you'd see a travel guide and events guide.
StreamThru uses a number of sources to calculate the current stage of your trip including your itinerary, real-time flight status data and the GPS location of your phone (if available).
Each piece of content displayed on the home page is a button - you can click any button to get more information about the selected content. For example, the home page will show today's weather forecast for your destination, click the button to view an extended 5-day forecast.
Access the home page, by clicking the home icon in the main menu.
Your flights are automatically added to your itinerary. You can add travel insurance, car hire, accommodation, etc by selecting "Add new item" from the itinerary page in the StreanThru app or by visiting streamthru.com from your desktop browser.
You can also add events to your itinerary from the StreamThru event guide - when viewing an event you plan to attend, simply select the 'Add to itinerary' option.
Access your itinerary by clicking the itinerary icon in the main menu.
A summary of your current flight's status is shown on the homepage, when you are travelling. You can click on the flight summary to view more detail about your flight.
At any time, you can check the status of any flight in your itinerary by clicking the flight icon in the main menu. This will list all of your flights. You can click on the flight you are interested in to view more detail.
The extended detail view of your flight shows the scheduled and expected departure time of your flight, the scheduled and expected arrival time of your flight. You'll also see your departure and arrival terminals and, where available, your departure gate.
If your flight is delayed or cancelled, we'll show you a link where you can view a list or alternative flights. This list shows: other flights from your departure airport to your destination airport, flights from nearby airports to your destination airport, and flights from your departure airport to other airports close to your destination.
Currently, we have airport guides for around 100 of largest airports worldwide. When an airport guide is available, you'll see it in on your homepage when you are travelling to or through that airport.
Click on the airport guide to view information about your airport. Available information is categorised hierarchically. Click on a category of interest to navigate down through the data. Use the back button to step back up the hierarchy.
Traffic reports are currently available for departures from UK airports. We'll be adding other countries soon.
Traffic reports are accessed from the home page, when you're travelling to the airport. Click on the home page traffic summary to view details of traffic incidents and roadworks, that could effect your journey to the airport.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page and select to view traffic information on a map.
When you reach the airport, you'll be able to store your parking space by clicking the reminder button on your homepage. Enter your parking space or row number. This information is saved to your itinerary (it's stoed against your return date) so it's available as a reminder when you get back to the airport.
Click on the weather button on the home page, or the weather icon in the main menu, to view a 5-day weather forecast for your destination.
Touchscreen users will see 2 tabs with the name of both your destination and your departure points. Click each tab to view a 5-day forecast for the selected location.
Non-touchscreen users will see the destination 5-day forecast first. By scrolling down you can also view the weather forecast for your departure point.
Visit the travel guide to discover the best landmarks, restaurants, nightlife, culture, etc at your destination. The content is provided by Google Places and includes reviews and ratings provided by their community of users.
Access the travel guide from the main menu at any time, or from the home-page at relevant stages of your trip.
If you have GPS enabled on your phone, and you have a good GPS signal (which typically means you are outdoors), when you enter the travel guide from the main menu, StreamThru will ask if you want to view the travel guide for your current location or for your destination. This way, if you go an excursion to another town, you will still be able to use the travel guide.
By default, you'll be shown a list of the top-rated landmarks for your destination. To view other places, click the triangle icon next to "Top Landmarks" to collapse the landmarks category. Then click the triangle next to "Explore near by places to" to view other categories. Select the category you are interested in to view a list of associated places.
You can view the details of any listed place by clicking on it. Details available include the address and user rating. Click on the triangle next to "Reviews" to see what Google Places users think of the place (note: these reviews may be in different languages). Click the link to view the location of your selected place on a map.
We chose Google Places for the StreamThru travel guide, because they provide good coverage worldwide, although inevitably, you will find more content available for major cities and resorts than for less popular destinations.
Visit the events guide to find out what's on at your destination during your stay. This content is provided by Eventful, the world's largest events database.
Access the events guide from the main menu at any time, or from the home-page at relevant stages of your trip.
If you have GPS enabled on your phone, and you have a good GPS signal (which typically means you are outdoors), when you enter the events guide from the main menu, StreamThru will ask if you want to view the events guide for your current location or for your destination. This way, if you go an excursion to another town, you will still be able to see what's on locally.
By default, you'll be shown a list of the top-rated events for your destination during your stay across all categories. To view specific types of event, click the triangle icon next to "Top events during your stay" to collapse this category. Then click the triangle next to "Find other events" to view other types of event. Select the category you are interested in to view a list of associated events.
You can view the details of any event by clicking on it. Details available include a description, the venue, the start time, and the cost. Where the event has a physical location (excludes tours), click the link to view the venue on a map. If you decide to attend the event, you can click 'Add to itinerary', if the event runs on multiple days, we'll let you pick the date you'd like to attend (and we only show dates when you're at this destination).
We chose Eventful for the StreamThru events guide, because they provide good coverage worldwide, although inevitably, you will find more things happening in major cities and resorts than for less popular destinations.
If you travel frequently, you may have more than 1 trip at a time set-up in StreamThru. To switch between trips in the application, select "Options > View trip list".
This will list your trips by destination in date order. Select the trip you would like to view. This will take you to your home page for that trip
With StreamThru, you can choose to work offline, which saves details of your trip locally on your phone, so you can view them when you don't have a network connection (e.g. to avoid roaming charges when you are abroad).
To work offline, from the homepage of your current trip choose "Options > Work offline". You'll see a message box telling you that you are now working offline, with saved data.
The next time you open the StreamThru application, if you say no to the message asking if you'd like to connect to the network and no to the message asking if you'd like to share your positional data, you'll go to the homepage for your current trip, viewing the previously saved data.
In offline mode, you'll see your itinerary and (if you visit these pages before going offline) the 5-day weather forecast, and the status of any upcoming flights.
